hell in the back seat

Written by sam

did you ever think about the single flower
blossoming up from the rocky face of a mountain of debris
created by years of decay in the center of our very lives?
that in that one tiny crack
it managed to delve inside
search for whatever lodgements that could
be found for its small weak roots...
and it held on and succeeded.
then there's that one little girl
who, seeing a pretty flower in the sidewalk
decides to pick it for her mother.
all the effort
all the purpose of this useless weed
was wasted
for nothing
the flower rots now, in the back seat of a car
headed straight to hell, clutched
in the hand of a seven-year old.
